Multiple award wins for Barking based clients

Businesses supported by East London Small Business Centre triumphed at this year's Barking and Dagenham Business Awards by scooping seven out of the ten award categories.
The businesses, which have all been supported through East London Small Business Centre, picked up some of the most prestigious categories on the night including Best New Business Award by Oishi Sushi and Growth Business of the Year Award by Peter James Motor Group.
The event held on Tuesday 5th July 2011, now on its fourth year, was hosted by BBC London’s Paul Ross and aims to celebrate the thriving business community of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
Commenting on the award Peter Harris, of Peter James Motor Group said: "I was very proud to receive the Growth Business of the Year award 2011. It is a recognition for all the hard work that my team has put in since our formation in 2006. East London Small Business Centre provided us with support, advice and ultimately the necessary funds. Without doubt this injection of money allowed our business to invest at a key time and resulted in us achieving the BSI Kitemark PAS125 and subsequently the winning of new contracts.”
Their business counsellor said: “Our ability to lend from our loan fund not only added value to Peter’s business, but in a small way has helped strengthen the local economy through the creation of new jobs in what we are sure will be a successful and sustainable business.
Our work with Peter goes beyond lending him money and we’re pleased to continue working alongside him to enable his business to survive and grow during these particularly challenging times.”
